Youth & Women's Inclusion

In many communities decisions are still made by a narrow circle. Our inclusion program does not lecture anyone about that: it prepares women and young people so thoroughly — in speaking, in budgets, in meeting procedure, in the law as it actually stands in Vanuatu — that their contribution becomes impossible to set aside.

The Senikau Youth Leadership School runs three intakes a year in Port Vila and one mobile intake in the northern islands. Participants aged 16 to 25 complete modules on civic literacy, public speaking, budgeting, digital safety and project design, then deliver a small funded community project of their own before graduating.

Our women's network operates village support circles and a trained referral pathway to Vanuatu's police, health and legal services for women facing violence or family hardship. Senikau staff are not counsellors and do not present themselves as such; our role is accompaniment, transport, and making sure the right professional service is actually reached.

How to take part

Member communities apply through their committee delegate; individuals may apply directly by calling the Port Vila office or completing the volunteer and assistance form on our contact page. Intakes are announced at the annual assembly and posted at partner schools, churches and market houses. Where places are limited, priority goes to applicants from communities not served in the previous cycle.

Reporting

Each program cycle produces a written report covering participation, expenditure against budget, participant feedback and what will change next cycle. Reports are tabled at the annual assembly and published in our governance and transparency section.
